About Laurie Lynn

Laurie Lynn Stark is a California native who spent many years as an independent Art Director. Intrigued by the instant creative expression that photography would allow her, she quickly found herself behind the lens. She began shooting her friends and family in intensely intimate, and often spontaneous, portraits with an honest yet graceful eye – a trait which defines her signature artistic mark. Shooting mostly with an 8x10 camera, her emotional and unguarded work with subjects like Cindy Crawford, John Baldessari, Iggy Pop, Karl Lagerfeld and Suki Waterhouse was soon sought after by publishers and collectors.

In 2009, Laurie Lynn was an invited artist in the Women in the Magic Mirror exhibition in Monte Carlo, an epic collection representing the journey of the “classic beauty” from last century’s society – a curation that set her pieces next to rare work from great masters of photography and was visited by The Honorable Prince Albert II of Monaco. The success of this exhibition birthed her solo show, SYMBOLISM, which opened in 2010 at the St. Moritz Art Masters. Within the same year, she was honored with an award from Kodansha for an advertising campaign she shot for Chrome Hearts.

In 2013, her next exhibition, 28 Images, debuted in Seoul, South Korea at Shinsegae Gallery. In conjunction with this show came her first published book, a limited edition collectible with a foreward by longtime friend, Cher.

Most recently, several of her pieces were included in the inaugural group exhibition at the Fahey / Klein Miami Gallery during Art Basel Miami 2014.

While faithful to the increasingly rare 8x10 format, Laurie Lynn has begun exploring the passage into video and digital photography. The opportunity to command both moving and still imagery has lured a deeper and more elemental means of capturing her subjects.

In addition to being featured in many international publications and art books, she is the Creative Director of Photography of Chrome Hearts Magazine published in Japan and distributed internationally. Her work appears in many private and major public collections worldwide.

Having made her mark in both commercial and fine arts, Laurie Lynn’s passion is in mentoring young artists as well as offering both her time and proceeds to various charitable organizations. At her Los Angeles studio, she creates an environment that affords developing artists unique opportunities and a space to hone their craft. She is committed to giving her energy and talent to causes close to her heart. She is also a Board Member of the Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami.

Stark lives with her husband and three children in Los Angeles and New York. She is also the co-owner and co-designer of the luxury company, Chrome Hearts.
